UK Just Announced eVisa for This Asian Nation

In a move to modernize its immigration system, the United Kingdom has officially introduced eVisas for Pakistani nationals applying to study or work in the UK. Starting July 15, 2025, most applicants will no longer need a physical visa sticker in their passports. Instead, they’ll receive a digital eVisa — a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly way to manage immigration status.

An eVisa is a digital confirmation that allows someone to enter, stay, or work in the UK. It clearly outlines the terms of the visa and can be accessed anytime through the applicant’s UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) online account. This shift means that visa holders won’t need to carry around documents to prove their status — it’s all stored online.

The British High Commission in Islamabad explained that this change won’t affect the actual visa rules or someone’s right to stay. It simply changes how that information is stored and shared — replacing paperwork with technology.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE welcomed the change, saying it’s designed to make life easier for those coming to the UK from Pakistan.

“This new eVisa system will make it much easier for students and professionals to show their visa status and identity. Plus, they get to keep their passports during the process — a real time-saver,” she said.

The new system covers a range of visa types. It applies to students enrolled in both short-term and long-term courses (up to 11 months), as well as people applying under the Global Business Mobility routes. These include Senior or Specialist Workers, Graduate Trainees, and Secondment Workers.

For many, this shift to digital marks a welcome improvement — one that blends simplicity, speed, and convenience into the often complex visa process.
